Traffic Control/Starport Centre
A standard design traffic control centre for small starports in the Rim. It can handle a range
of intensities of traffic but is not up to Core world standard. It can be used as a temporary stopover for
passengers, act as a waypoint, or even be a focus for a cargo transfer/storage facility.
It has extensive subspace communications and starship tracking capabilities, and is likely to
have a holonet connection for day-to-day use as well as stopover
passenger entertainment (there is normally precious little else to do around these out-of-the
way starports!).
The centre is normally manned by a team of 6: a Centre Commander, three Traffic controllers on
rotating shifts, and two admin personnel. It is also assigned a trio of security guards/
laser cannon operators. Occasionally it may be assigned a single maintenance and repair expert
(Technical Specialist or Expert) to maintain and repair the equipment. Most of the other tasks in
the station are carried out by relevant droids: the station may have a medical droid, will have
a power droid, will have a two technician droids to operate the power plant, possibly another
two to assist with equipment repair and maintenance, and will have a pair of general-purpose
droids for driving the trucks or
buses. Very occasionally, and if the station is known for its repair capabilities, it may be
found with an astromech droid.
As standard the Control Centre comes armed with, and can power, a dual laser or turbo-laser
turret for anti-piracy use. This normally requires two or three men to man the turret - most
normally the guards/security officers who would otherwise be assigned to guard the centre.
In the plans, the "power plant" also includes all the air-reprocessing equipment, as well
as the power generator, it's standby and the controls for them both. Most of the station, however,
can be controlled from the tower.
