Key'dara/Junku Medj'K'ai Nebula Star Wars

by Halfbat

Kaydara is primarily reknown for the large number of small-scale manufacturing plants scattered around the main planet within the system, and its refinery's on the main planet and within the asteroid belts. Surprisingly, the system has a larger number of asteroid belts than would be expected, but these leave a large number of mineral-rich asteroids ripe for mining and manufacturing.
The planets and asteroid belts are:

Key'dara 1 & 2 These two planets are in hot, stable, solar-proximity orbits within approximately 1m miles of each other. Whilst Key'dara 2 is inclined at around 20° to the ecliptic, Key'dara 1 is almost perfectly aligned. As a result, the pair rarely meet, though when the do the resulting gravity anomalies cause both bad solar flares and tectonic upheaval on both planets which results in massive volcanic eruptions. From a mineral view-point, the planets and asteroids could be useful; from a cost viewpoint, such mining would be virtually prohibitive.

Key'dara 3 is an asteroid belt, often influenced by the anomalies caused by the two inner planets to launch meteors into close solar orbit. The presence of this belt, plus Key'dara 1 and 2, make the inner system a highly dangerous place to be for starships.
Key'dara 4: Junku
Junku Altitude and Climate
Note: The planet is mostly shallow water, having extensive mudflats surrounded by the main land-masses.

Junku Altitude

Normally referred to as Junku, Key'dara 4 is fairly warm, with slightly less than normal gravity. The native biology is non-sentient, mainly limited to birds and extensive small sea-life, some of which, particularly mud-eels, can reach lengths of up to 5m. It is believed that much of the remainder of the larger land-life was destroyed by a naturally-developed super-predator which, having eaten and destroyed much of the rest of the land-life, ended up making itself extinct. Some experts have theorised it was a form of reptile - as fossilised remains of reptiles have been discovered - but few larger land-creatures remain.

A bird common on Junku is the Fire-Raven, a large scavenger/predator, so called as its red-and-yellow markings contrast strongly with its base black colouring.

The planet is sparsely settled, the intelligent species tending to live in small settlements focussed around specific manufacturing plants aiming to mine and produce fully-processed, finished mineral products in an attempt to make trading economically feasible. There is little or no central government, what there is focussed around religious figures and leaders, often regarded as near-crazy by off-world observers.

The settlements are named after their founders, such as the Arlen Manufactuary which was named after a well-known Twi'lek dancer who escaped the clutches of Turuma the Hutt and founded the manufacturing plant several hundred years ago. With little or no central defense, and relying on their own skills and finance, such plants can be rich and vulnerable pickings to raiders or opportunistic smugglers: the Arlen Manufactuary itself, for example, being destroyed around 10-25 years ago in a pirate raid.

Humans on Junku tend towards albinoism or near-albino colouring, early settlers apparently having a high concentration of albino's who felt themselves outcasts within normal human society. The planet also attracted a large number of other odd colourations from other species.

Key'dara 5,6 and 8 are all relatively stable meteor belts.

Key'dara 7 is a Multi-Ringed Gas giant with a few objects large enough to be classed as moons.
